On May 7, 1995, Reggie Miller scored eight points in 89 seconds to beat the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference. The Pacers trailed by six points with 18.7 seconds remaining when Miller hit a three-pointer. He then stole the ball from John Starks and hit another three-pointer to tie the game with 7.5 seconds left. After Starks missed a potential game-winning shot, Miller grabbed the rebound and hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Pacers a 107-105 victory.

Miller was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 1995. He was a key member of the Pacers' team that reached the NBA Finals in 2000. Miller retired from the NBA in 2005 and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
