Deadly Shark Attacks in Egypt Lead to Beach Closures

Tourists Killed in Unprovoked Attacks

Egyptian authorities have closed several beaches along the country's Red Sea coast after two female tourists were killed in separate shark attacks. The incidents occurred in the resort town of Hurghada, where an Austrian woman was killed in July and a Romanian woman was killed in August.

Austrian Woman Killed in July

The Austrian woman, identified as 68-year-old Elisabeth Sauer, was swimming near a beach in Hurghada when she was attacked by a shark. According to witnesses, she was swimming about 20 meters offshore when she was suddenly pulled underwater.

Romanian Woman Killed in August

The Romanian woman, identified as 47-year-old Roxana Danila, was also swimming near a beach in Hurghada when she was attacked by a shark. She was reportedly swimming about 30 meters offshore when she was attacked.

Conclusion

The two unprovoked fatal attacks have raised concerns about the safety of swimming in the Red Sea. Egyptian authorities are investigating the attacks and have deployed lifeguards to patrol the beaches. They have also banned swimming near certain areas where the attacks occurred.

The attacks have also highlighted the importance of staying alert while swimming in the ocean. Swimmers should be aware of their surroundings and avoid swimming in areas where sharks are known to be present.
