Matt Reeves Wants to Avoid Franchise Fatigue with an HBO-Style Show About a Gangster

The Batman Director Matt Reeves is Developing a New HBO Series Set in the Film's World

Matt Reeves, the director of the critically acclaimed film The Batman, is set to return to the world of the Caped Crusader with a new HBO series. The series, which is still in development, is said to be a gangster drama set in the same Gotham City as Reeves' film.

Reeves is Aiming for a HBO-Style Quality Level

According to sources, Reeves is aiming for the series to have the same high level of quality as HBO's other prestige dramas, such as The Wire and The Sopranos.

Reeves is also said to be interested in exploring the criminal underworld of Gotham City in more depth, and the series is expected to feature a number of new characters as well as some familiar faces from the film.

The Series Will Be Set in the Same World as The Batman Film

The series will be set in the same world as Reeves' film, but it is not yet clear if Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

However, it is possible that other characters from the film, such as Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman and Paul Dano's Riddler, could appear in the series.

Reeves is Hoping to Avoid Franchise Fatigue

One of the main reasons Reeves is developing the series is to avoid franchise fatigue.

In recent years, there have been a number of superhero movies and TV shows that have been released, and some fans are starting to feel burnt out on the genre.

By creating a series that is set in the same world as The Batman but focuses on a different genre, Reeves hopes to keep the franchise fresh and exciting.
